Apryl is the host and cofounder of Halfway There: a reading series in Montclair, NJ. Halfway There is dedicated to showcasing emerging voices along with established ones. Together with friend and fellow writer, Nicole Haroutunian, she and Apryl started this event after realizing that there were no literary reading series like this in the greater Northern New Jersey area, which was crazy. So, they started one. Halfway There aims to highlight writers with connections to New Jersey, but also to bring authors out into New Jersey, beyond just Jersey City and Newark, that people would normally have to get to NYC to hear read. Now in it’s fifth year, the series has welcomed Marcy Dermansky, Helen Phillips, Julia Phillips, T Kira Madden, Joan Silber, John Keene, Crystal Hana Kim, Nicole Dennis-Benn, Alice Elliott Dark, Evie Shockley, Melissa Febos, and many more.
